David Erich

David Erich assumed the role of Chief Legal Officer at Exeter Finance in March of 2024. He has made outstanding contributions during his 12 years at Exeter; serving as both Deputy General Counsel when he was hired in May of 2012, and later as Chief Compliance Officer. David also leads the Compliance organization and has extensive experience managing complex legal matters, leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with external partners.

David’s experience includes 25 years of in-house consumer finance experience in a wide variety of roles and 7 years of private practice experience as a litigator. Prior to coming to Exeter, David spent 13 years at Capital One initially as counsel in its credit card business before moving to Texas to serve as counsel for its auto finance business. David is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Capital University Law School where he was Notes Editor of the Law Review.
